The 2015 presidential election is no doubt going to be a memorable one. In recent times, political parties have used different mediums to propagate their motives.
It is a clear believe with the look of things that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari is enjoying the media on all platforms. But one would not immediately conclude this will be the judge of the election outcome.
Just few days after a new twitter account was created for Buhari @thisisbuhari, his followers increased to half of President Jonathan's followers @jgoodlucktweets which was created over 4years ago. Buhari now has 46.6K+ followers against Jonathan's 84.8K+ followers. One can actually predict what will happen next in that regard.
But some Nigerians are saying "Buhari has the media while Jonathan has the people." I really don't know how real this is. But in my opinion, elections are not won on social media nor on radio. Therefore, the online/social media presence of the APC candidate may and may not be the judge of the loyalty during the election proper.
Series of online polls have also indicated Buhari's lead in most cases. Meanwhile, it is an undeniable fact that General Muhammadu Buhari this time is wanted by many Nigerians and I would say President Jonathan should not also underrate the role of media. The time is near and the voice of the people will speak.
