Things You Should Not Do On OLX!

OLX is a classified site that brings traders to buyers and has been a handful and fast access website in recent times. Users don't have to go through any stress or extra work in order to sell new/used items. For me, it is a great initiative as it helped me sell off my used items but every good has a negative effect attached.

Recently, three kids from Orekoya family were kidnapped in Lagos state by a "Nanny", Mary Akinloye, a 23 year-old indigene of Ibadan, Oyo state, just a day into her job. Guess what, the nanny got the job via OLX website. She gave her client fake family members contacts in order to seal the deal. She and her accomplices demanded N15m from the parents. Thankfully, they were found alive in Lagos on Wednesday 15th April, 2015 weeks after the kidnap.

Now, I will point out things you should avoid on OLX and other sites that offers such services. But before I go on, let's look at the how people register and sell on OLX.

There is no proper registration on OLX. All a seller has to do is to supply photos of item, details of item, price and contact details. There is no means of address verification by OLX, thereby giving room for fake supplied details.

Now, things you should avoid posting on OLX. You may post everything in the world but avoid posting items in the under listed categories.

** LAND and HOUSING
** HOME SERVICE
** VEHICLES

Posting items in the above categories leaves you open and vulnerable to scam and robbery which might lead to loss of life.

For instance, someone who responds to your "HOME SERVICE" advert on OLX will have the opportunity to scan through your residence for future attack if they have the intention.

In conclusion, for services in the listed categories, refer to professionals and agents who are registered and are capable of delivering. This are people you can hold responsible and not OLX. BE CAREFUL!!!
