The United Nations' base in Northern Mali has been attacked by unidentified gunmen on Saturday.
The U.N. Base for peacekeepers in the northern Mali town of Kidal was attacked by the unknown gunmen as residents heard mortar fire from the area. [Reuters]
The attack reportedly happened at about 4am (0400 GMT) as confirmed by the U.N. Spokesman in Mali (MINUSMA), Olivier Salgado told Reuters. Although, number of wounded person was not immediately available.
The spokesman said about four to five rockets landed in the building injuring few people.
Attacks in Mali is one of the many attacks in the West African region such as Nigeria battling Boko Haram which has extended its attacks to other countries in the region.
A suicide bomber on Friday in Northeast Nigeria outside Kano killed 21 people during a Shite group procession on their way to Zaria.
