Anti-Corruption War: Sen. Ben Murray Bruce sponsors Independent Prosecutor Bill

The Chairman, Silverbird Group and also the senator representing Bayelsa East, Mr. Ben Murray-Bruce has called for the support of his Independent Prosecutor Bill on the floor of the senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Senator Bruce explains that this bill will free anti-corruption war from political control. He added that not even the legislators will be able to control it, rather, it (anti-corruption war) would be controlled by voting. 

In his words via his Twitter timeline; "With my Independent Prosecutor Bill, neither the Executive or Legislature can control anti corruption war. The people control it by voting.

"My Independent Prosecutor Bill provides that ranking members of NBA are eligible for election as the Independent Prosecutor with a budget."

Other feature of the bill if passed is that the Independent Prosecutor will have his/her own guaranteed budget and not answer to any executive. Mr. Bruce believes if the bill is actualized, lawmakers and political office holders will all sit up. Once Nigeria has an untouchable Independent Prosecutor not appointed by Executive or Legislature we'll all sit up, he said.

"An Attorney General appointed by Executive cant go after the executive like an elected Independent Prosecutor"
