Abacha Loot: Another $300m recovered

The federal government of Nigeria has recovered another Three Hundred Million USD ($300m) from former military head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha's loot says the minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

Late Gen. Sani Abacha
Abacha ruled as head of state between 19th November, 1993 to 8th June, 1998 and died on same 8th June, 1998. The amount of his loots could not be reasonably ascertained as more and more are being discovered over the years.

The recovered $300m kept in Swiss banks are now been processed for release to the Nigerian government. The minister of foreign affairs stated that they are in talks with the Switzerland government over thr release. It may be recalled that Nigeria's highest currency denomination during his time was Fifty (N50) Naira.

The recovery has however generated a lot of reactions as Nigerians feel the countries returning these loots are only returning profits after utilizing the funds for their own development. This is to tell our politicians and other corrupt officials taking the nation's money abroad that it does no good to the country.
