First case of the rodent disease, Lassa Fever has now been confirmed in Ekiti and Delta states, Nigeria.
This confirmation has now bring the total number of affected states to thirteen (13) including Lagos state, Nigeria.
The Commissioner for Health in Ekiti state told Channels TV that the affected patient is an 18-year old female student of the School of Nursing at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Ido-Ekiti, and is currently on admission at same hospital in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, in Delta state, the affected person is a 65-year old woman from Ifiogwari village in Ayamelunu Local Government Area in Anambra State. According to reports, she is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center in Asaba, Delta state.
The general public are encouraged to keep clean environment and store foods where rodents can not easily access.
