Scores have been reported dead and many injured during an explosion at Kano Central Mosque. No fewer than three explosions rocked the mosque which is close to the palace of Emir of Kano, eye witness said.
According to The Punch, it occurred around 2:30pm. The unfortunate incident has also been confirmed by the Spokesman for the Joint Task Force, Ikechuku Eze.
The emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi who normally leads the prayers was said to have travelled from Paris to Saudi Arabia on Thursday night. That led to his absence at the mosque on Friday.
The casuality figures has now been put at 400 according to The Punch. About 120 killed and over 270 injured. It was reported that 10 gunmen went on a shooting spree after the explosions.
