Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo popularly called HID, was born on November 25, 1915 in an Ikenne Community of Ogun State, Nigeria. She is the widow of the famous politician Obafemi Awolowo. HID and her husband's names can never be erased from the history of Nigeria.

HID was a supportive wife who toured Nigeria with her husband during his campaign for president in the Second Republic. Awolowo's dream of becoming the president however, never came to reality. Awolowo referred to her as his "jewel of inestimable value".
Mama HID Awolowo did not only play vital roles in politics, she also made contributions to the growth of economy. Many politicians of high class have paid visits to her on different occasion. Among her achievements and success as a businesswoman; "she became the first Nigerian distributor for the Nigerian Tobacco Company (NTC) in 1957 and the first to import lace materials and other textiles into Nigeria" (wikipedia)
