Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode who was declared winner of the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primary in Lagos state has stated that he won the primary as a result of his grassroot consultation.
In his victory speech, he said "I am the only aspirant that visited the whole 20 local government areas of the state, and the result is what you are seeing". Ambode was a former accountant general of Lagos state.
He won the governoship primary with a 3,735 votes with the current commissioner for works, Obafemi Hamzat placing second with 1,201 votes. Meanwhile, the chairman of the primary committee has said aggrieved aspirants can appeal the results.
