The first elected US black senator, Edward Brooke has died at the age of 95 years. The news was confirmed by the Republican Party officials according to the BBC.
He was a special senator who was elected at a time of racial unrest in 1966 by voters in Massachusetts. He also became the first African-American to become an Attorney General in any state.
