Wedding Makeup (What You Should Know) - Get It Right!

On such a special day, most brides want a totally different makeup scheme to their usual look be it their traditional wedding or their church wedding or even their court wedding. But many are worried about getting it wrong and end up looking garish or overdone.

Finding an experienced/professional makeup artist, who will come up with a wedding make-up combination which suits both your skin tone and your wedding style, can ensure that you look beautiful in your wedding photos.

You should be looking to choose your wedding make-up artist around five to six months before the big event, and you should book both for the wedding day and for a trial run 2 to 3 Months before hand. But you can decide not to go for trial run if you trust your MUA (Make Up Artist).

When you are talking to makeup artists and deciding which one to use, the questions they ask you are possibly more important than their response to your questions.

They ask questions like:

The colour for your wedding dress
The hairstyle you have in mind
The overall wedding theme

Your Makeup artist should be prepared to listen to what you want, whilst also making suggestions themselves, when they feel something you ask for might not suit you for your wedding style.

When you have a trial your makeup artist should try out a few different looks to make sure they get exactly what you want, rather than settling for the first try. If you aren’t happy with your make up trial, either book another appointment or find another makeup artist.

Just few brides get through their special day without shedding tears of joy, so make sure you avoid smearing your make up by using a quality waterproof Mascara. This can double up as waterproof liquid eyeliner, just dip the eyeliner brush in the Mascara tube. I would suggest Maybelliene Mascara or Benefit Mascara.

If you want to make any changes to your skincare and beauty routine, do so a month before the wedding. Getting a facial or using a new beauty product the week before the big day can provoke a very ill-timed break out.

Also, although this may sound odd but I recommend you get a lot of rest as stress could trigger break outs too. So take out time to pamper yourself and relax.

Drink plenty of water and fruit smoothies, and try to limit the amount of coffee you consume. Eye makeup is both glamorous and elegant, with soft colourful shades for the church wedding enhanced by several coats of Mascara, or possibly even false lashes. Some brides do not like false lashes so very good and quality Mascara should work. Lips are lined to create fullness and lipstick is topped with a little shimmering lip gloss, Ask your makeup artist to recommend a shade that compliments your skin tone.
