After long hours of meeting between the INEC boss, Prof. Attahiru Jega and all the resident commissioners, another meeting was started at about 7:30pm between INEC and security officials.
It was gathered that 21 RECs rejected the postponement proposal. At about 9pm, the meeting with the officials ended and the management went into another meeting i.e. The INEC Chairman, Prof. Jega, the secretary of the commission and the national commissioners.
At exactly 9:50pm, Prof. Jega arrived finally for the briefing. And here is the position of the INEC on the elections timetable. "INEC is ready for the elections as scheduled. INEC is also ready in the level of distribution of election materials.
"INEC is capable of delivering better elections this year. INEC is not a security agency. So it depends on the security forces. Therefore, when the security forces advise otherwise, it would be unreasonable to deploy for the elections
"INEC has decided to take the advise of the security agencies. The Presidential and Senate elections will now hold on March 28, while the Governorship and House of Rep PS elections now to hold on April 11, 2015."
Professor Jega also answered a question which asked an his tenure will end. He said "my tenure will end June 30th, 2015, God wiling" .
