Buhari Declared Winner! Floors Jonathan.

The long wait finally came to an end for all Nigerians. The Independent National Electoral Commision Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega declared General Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the presidential elections which commenced on Saturday 28th March, 2015 and ended on Sunday 29th March, 2015.

The duo of President Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as the major contenders in the elections under People's Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress respectively pull the major votes from the 36 states and the FCT. Below is the breakdown of votes scored by the different candidates.

1. Senator Anifowoshe: 22,125 - AA
2. Alhaji Galadima: 40,311 - ACPN
3. Rafiu Salau: 30,673 - AD
4. Dr.Mani I.: 29,666 - ADC
5. Ayeni Musa: 53,537 - APA
6. Gen. Buhari: 15,424,921 - APC
7. Chief Sam E.: 36,300 - CPP
8. Ambrose Owuru: 7,435 - HOPE
9. Oluremi Onaiya: 13,076 - KOWA
10. Martins Onovo: 24,455 - NCP
11. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan: 12,853,162 - PDP
12. Allagoa Kelvin Chinedu: 24,475 - PPM
13. Godson Mgbodile O.Okoye: 9,208 - UDP
14. Dr.Chekwas Okorie: 18,220 - UPP

After the announcement, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari was declared and returned winner by the INEC Chairman having satisfied the requirements by law. The chairman later handed over the result sheets to the party representatives.

Now, Nigeria has a new President-Elect, Buhari who emerged winner at the fourth attempt. His victory came as a special one as it is the first time an incumbent will be defeated. God bless Nigeria.
