The relevant Rivers state election petiton tribunal sitting in Abuja has sacked the Speaker, Owaji Ibani and twenty (20) members of the state's house of assembly
The affected lawmakers were all elected on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during the April 11, 2015 elections. The house has a total of 32 lawmakers out of which 21 members' elections have been nullified meaning the house can no longer perform it's function.
This development will now add up to the earlier sack of the state governor, Nyesom Wike whose election was nullified by the tribunal last week. The Rivers Tribunal jurisdiction on the case is set to be ruled upon by the Supreme Court.
