The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria went hard on their counterpart from Australia in the round of 16 on Thursday after a strong six unreplied goals (NGA 6 - 0 AUS).
It was a beautiful game and was under the control of the Golden Eaglets for the whole time. Osimhen launched the goals spree when he found the back of the net at 22mins into the game.
Confusion set into the Australian defence which resulted into a foul in the penalty area. Nwakali converted the penalty kick in to a second goal at 25mins into the game. Both teams held on and the first half ended 2 goals to nil in favor of Nigeria.
The action resumed and the goals started raining once again. Osimhen took his goals in the game to hatrick level through two goals at 73mins and 79mins into the game. With four goals down, the Australians thought that was all. But no, there were more goals coming.
With the clock on the 86' mark, Essien added his name to the score sheet while Chukwueze completed the goals with a nice shot on the 88' mark. And, the world cup campaign came to an end for the Australian side while the Nigerian side, Golden Eaglets gallantly move to the quarter final stage.
