Pilot falls ill and dies on an American Airlines flight

An American Airlines flight carrying about 147 passengers on Monday morning was diverted to Syracuse, New York during its journey from Phoenix to Boston after the pilot fell ill and died. 
Flight 550 reportedly left Phoenix at 11:55 p.m. local time and was diverted mid-flight, landing shortly after 7 a.m. EDT (1100 GMT)
The details of the pilot was not immediately released as it was also not clear thr exact time he died. 


The first officer who took over the flight and safely landed the plane reportedly communicated with the control tower "American 550. Medical emergency. Captain is incapacitated". He was cleared to land after requesting a runway to land and asked to proceed to the gate where medics were waiting.
