The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria gracefully defended their world title at the concluded FIFA U17 WORLD CUP held in Chile and also claimed most of the individual awards for players.
It was a great outing for the young heroes as they proved to the world that Nigeria against all odds still remains the giant of Africa. Meanwhile, the whole world now has reason to believe that Africa has greater skills to offer the world of sports as seen in the just concluded tournament.
The individual awards given to players were won mostly by the Golden Eaglets' players alongside Mali and a German player. Below are the breakdown :
1. Golden Ball (Tournament's Best Player) - Kelechi Nwakali (Captain, Golden Eaglets)
2. Silver Ball - Victor Osimhen (Nigeria)
3. Golden Boot - Victor Osimhen (Nigeria, record breaking 10 goals and 2 assists)
4. Adidas Bronze Ball - Aly Male (Mali)
5. Adidas Silver Boot: Johannes Eggestein (Germany, 4 goals)
6. Adidas Bronze Boot: Kelechi Nwakali (Nigeria, 3 goals and 3 assists)
7. Adidas Golden Glove: Samuel Diarra (Mali)
FIFA Fair Play Award was awarded to Ecuador
In the same vein, the Nigerian female U20 team has also qualified for the FIFA 2016 Female U20 world Cup.
