BREAKING: Saraki loses at Supreme Court, faces fresh charges

The Supreme Court on Friday ruled in favor of the federal government against the Nigerian Senate president, Bukola Saraki over his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The 7-man panel at the Supreme court upheld the earlier decision of the appeal court in a split judgement which upheled the code of conduct tribunal's jurisdiction to try Saraki which he earlier challenged.

Fresh charges have now been pressed against the senate president including receiving full benefits and salary due to governor several years after his tenure expired.

All five issues raised at the appeal court were resolved in favor of the federal government. The supreme court maintained that the CCT is properly constituted and Saraki must stand trial over cases of corruption involving false declaration of assets.
