President Buhari has approved the unbundling of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into seven (7) independent units.
The decision was announced by the minister of state for petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu last week. The decision however met a reaction by the lower legislative arm of the government seeking an executive bill before they can approve the unbundling or any fundamental change at the NNPC.
Meanwhile, on tuesday, Dr. Ibe Kachickwu announced the approval of the unbundling and appointments of chief executive officers for each units.
The appointed officers are: Bello Rabiu for Upstream; Henry Ikem-Onih (downstream); Anibor Kragha (Refineries); Saudu Mohammed (Gas & Power), Babatunde Adeniran, Ventures. Finance and Services will be headed by Isiaka Abdulrazaq while the Executive Head, Corporate Services will be Is a Inuwa.
