A suicide attempt by a suicide bomber on the Bakassi Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, Damboa road in Maiduguri, Borno state was foiled by the troops deployed behind the camp at about 9:00am on Sunday morning.

According to the Colonel Sani Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations Officer, the suicide bomber was sighted by the troop but waited until he came close and was taken out by a sniper. The Improvised Explosive Device strapped to the bomber however failed to detonate.
A team of combined police Explosive Ordinance Device (EOD) and military have since been called to safely detonate the IED.
