The maiden edition of the African Universities Olympics held in Cairo, Egypt between 12th to 19th March, 2018, was a successful outing for the Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB).

The NAUB representatives won gold medals in various events. A total of 47 universities from 27 different African countries participated.
NAUB won a total of 5 medals including the winners trophy for basketball. Gold in basketball, Silver in 100m Female and 200m Female, a bronze each in 800m Female and 1500m Female.
The University of Cape Coast, Ghana were crowned champions at the maiden edition of the games winning a total of 25 medals; 10 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze.
